As part of Ravka First Army, Alina was a cartographer until it was discovered she was a Grisha, and not just any Grisha, but the Sun Summoner! This power gives her the ability to destroy the Shadow Fold, if she is strong enough. Completely changing the trajectory of her life, Alina is taken to learn about her powers and to join the Second Army, filled with other magic-wielding Grisha. Unsure of who to truly trust, she searches for the power to destroy the Fold and save Ravka.
